How to create a Google Meet link instantly on a Mac

By Harshit Maurya, maker of Cued · Updated 21 October 2026

The quickest built-in way to make a Google Meet link is meet.google.com → New meeting → Create a meeting for later, which gives you a link to copy without starting the call. Gmail and Google Calendar can make one too. To get a link without leaving the app you are in, use a global shortcut: in Cued, press ⌥C anywhere on your Mac and a new Google Meet link is made and copied, ready to paste into a chat or email.

How do you make a link for later in Google Meet?

  1. Open Meet. Go to meet.google.com in your browser, signed in to your Google account.
  2. Click New meeting. A short menu opens.
  3. Choose Create a meeting for later. Meet shows a link. Copy it and share it, or open it yourself when it is time.

If you want to start right away, choose Start an instant meeting instead. If you use another scheduling tool, Google suggests starting a meeting in Gmail or Meet, then Meeting details → Copy joining info, and pasting that into your event.

How do you schedule a Meet in Google Calendar?

  1. Create an event. In Google Calendar, Create → Event, and set the time.
  2. Add guests. Type their email addresses.
  3. Add Google Meet video conferencing. The link is added to the event.
  4. Save. Choose whether to send invitations to guests.

Google notes that Workspace Essentials users can't schedule Meet meetings in Calendar.

How do you make a Meet link from any app on a Mac?

The built-in ways all start in a browser tab. That is fine at your desk, but awkward in the middle of a chat with a client: you switch apps, open Meet, click twice, copy, switch back. A global shortcut skips all of that.

  1. Sign in with Google in Cued. Once, during setup. Cued needs your Google account to create Meet links.
  2. Press ⌥C anywhere. In Slack, WhatsApp, Mail, wherever you are typing. A new Google Meet link is made and copied.
  3. Paste. ⌘V into the message. Done.

All of Cued's shortcuts can be changed in Settings if ⌥C clashes with another app.

How do you book a call for later without opening Calendar?

Press ⌥S in Cued to open Find a time: pick a day, see what is already booked, pick a time, add people, and Cued creates the Google Calendar event with a Meet link. About two minutes before it starts, Cued reminds you with a Join button, and when the call starts it records it on your Mac with no bot joining.

Cued needs you to sign in with Google for Meet links. Cued needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later, and is designed for MacBooks with a notch.

Tips for sharing Meet links

  • Send the link with the time and time zone in the same message, so nobody has to ask.
  • For a recurring call, put the link in a recurring Calendar event rather than making a new one each week.
  • Check who can join without asking. In Meet, people outside your organization may need to be admitted.
  • Tell people at the start if you are recording, and ask for their consent.
